Meet the Staff

Pastor Ward Smith is a 1984 graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a double major in Bible and psychology. He met his lovely wife, Cheryl Elkins, at Tennessee Temple while they were both on visitation for Highland Park Baptist Church. They were joined in marriage on September 7, 1985.

Pastor Smith furthermore went on to Bob Jones University to complete a Master of Arts degree in pastoral studies and finished in December, 1991.

Immediately after graduation, the Smith family joined Evangelist Steve Pettit and traveled three years from January of 1992 to November of 1994. His ministry with Steve Pettit was working with children and the youth as well as assisting Steve.

At the end of November, 1994, Pastor Smith started working with Pastor Les Heinze at South Sheridan Baptist Church as youth pastor. About a year later Pastor Heinze asked Pastor Smith to become an assistant pastor, overseeing evangelism, discipleship and Northland Baptist Bible College West. In April, 2001, God called Pastor Smith’s family to plant a church in Parker, Colo. Grace Baptist Church had its first service on September 16, 2001. GBC was started with a core of ten families from South Sheridan Baptist Church, dedicated to grow this new church off the ground. We became independent within a year
and are currently averaging around 170 in attendance.

In May of 2006, Pastor Smith graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College with a “Doctorate of Sacred Ministries” degree.

Pastor Smith's dedication to his faith, the Church and his family is a strength that we all benefit from. Pastor Smith and Cheryl have 5 beautiful children, four daughters Bethany; 22, (Stephany, who passed away of Leukemia on January 10, 1991); Tiffany; 18, Stacy; 14, and Katy; 12 and one son, Nathan, 16.

Pastor Dave Hine is a "Hoosier," that is a native of Indiana!  Raised on a farm by Godly Christian parents, Dave grew up driving Case tractors, playing baseball, basketball, and football, and rooting for the Purdue Boilermakers.  He attended Purdue University, then transferred to Bob Jones University where he received a B.S. in Physical Education.  Pastor Dave continued on to complete an M.A. in Pastoral Studies from Bob Jones University in 1980.

From 1980 to 1989, Pastor Dave served as the field representative for The Wilds Christian Camp near Brevard, NC.  While traveling for The Wilds, Dave met his wife, Jackie, on a recruiting trip to Georgia.

Having recruited Jackie (married in June, 1986), Pastor Dave was called to Virginia Beach, VA to serve as the youth pastor at Colonial Baptist Church from 1989-1998.  During these productive years of ministry, God gave the Hines two beautiful children: Josiah (1992) and Victoria (1998).

From 1998 to 2004, Pastor Dave and Jackie were on staff at Northland Baptist Bible College (now Northland International University), where Dave served as the Dean of Students having the privilege of discipling students for Christ.

In early 2004, Pastor Dave and Jackie followed God's will to Clemson, SC, home of the Clemson Tigers and University Baptist Church.  There, Pastor Dave served as the senior pastor, having the opportunity to be involved first hand in secular campus ministry.

By the grace of God, Pastor Dave and Jackie were called out West in August of 2011 to Grace Baptist Church, Parker, CO., with the opportunity to serve on the staff as assistant pastor. Pastor Dave is experiencing the dream of his childhood to live in the West, work with a church plant, and do the work of the ministry.
